There are people handy enough to make some of the repairs by themselves. If you are one of those, you could make a temporary repair by replacing the striker plates; and securing them with drywall screws. If you would like to a more permanent repair, you could follow these steps.

• peel away the weather strip and remove the wood jamb using a circular saw
• use a chisel to clean up the broken wood that the circular saw could not reach
• stuff the fiberglass insulation back into the gap between the jamb and the framing
• measure the width of the new piece of wood
• use a circular saw to rip a piece of 1×6 to the desired width and cut the board to length with a miter saw
• set the new board in place. 
• push the new piece of wood into place and nail the new jamb in place with 2-inch finish nails
• re-cut the latch and deadbolt striker plates
• install the striker plates with 3-inch deck screws. 
• caulk the joints with silicon acrylic latex caulk

The original gap between the door and the jamb must be retained. The door looks as good as new. It just needs to be stained, and install the door casing with a few finish nails.
